When you're named for Team GB whilst doing your GCSE's - Team GB Swimming Squad

Published on: 27th April, 2021

In this episode we hear from the great Adam Peaty, the in-form Molly Renshaw and the coach of Derby's Derventio Excel Swim Squad Jamie Main.

It's the day when the majority of the squad for Tokyo is named - but one 16 year old couldn't be there. Jacob Whittle is in the middle of his GCSE assessments - his head coach Jamie Main talks about the achievement and the troubles swimming clubs have had during the lockdown periods.

Adam Peaty looks forward to attacking the pool and retaining gold and Molly Renshaw tells me why she enjoyed parts of lockdown.

If you're enjoying these podcasts would you consider giving me a tip with all money going to Maggie's Cancer Centres. Just £2/3 would be great. Details here:

About the Podcast

Destination Tokyo
Olympic and Paralympic stories in the run up to the Tokyo Games.
I’ve covered 5 Olympic and 5 Paralympic Games at home and abroad. Tokyo 2020 was to have been numbers 6. So how are the athletes preparing during Covid times. And what are they learning in the run up to the Games. The Podcast lasts around 10 mins and comes out daily, Monday to Friday. I’m also using it to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Centres to thank them for the help they’ve given my wife and family during her bowel cancer journey.
