Visualisation and a unique fitness app - powerlifter Ali Jawad prepares for a rare competition

Published on: 25th March, 2021

Here's the latest from Paralympic powerlifter Ali Jawad who's aiming for Tokyo this summer. He's doing so against the odds. He's suffered badly from his Crohn's Disease since winning a medal in Rio in 2016 and has struggled to be the same athlete.

Ali's not competed for 18 months and he's preparing to compete at Manchester in a World Cup.

Ali talks about his mental preparation and how he visualises successes and failures.

He also talks about work developing his special app - AccesserCise for fitness for the disabled community.

About the Podcast

Destination Tokyo
Olympic and Paralympic stories in the run up to the Tokyo Games.
I’ve covered 5 Olympic and 5 Paralympic Games at home and abroad. Tokyo 2020 was to have been numbers 6. So how are the athletes preparing during Covid times. And what are they learning in the run up to the Games. The Podcast lasts around 10 mins and comes out daily, Monday to Friday. I’m also using it to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Centres to thank them for the help they’ve given my wife and family during her bowel cancer journey.
