Gaming, elections and tunes whilst you're swimming - GB's marathon swimmer Alice Dearing

Published on: 24th March, 2021

Alice Dearing is hoping to head to Tokyo as part of Team GB in marathon swimming. She's just back from her first competition for 13 months in Doha.

Alice talks about the sport and that there are only few races a year in normal times. And whilst it all felt very alien she was really happy with her 12th place, just 7 seconds behind the winner. Alice also reveals the two songs she sang during her 2 hours in the water.

But there's been another blow. Someone on the flight home tested positive for Covid and Alice is having to self-isolate. However Alice is making the most of her time. She's planning a dissertation for University on the use of Video Games in the 2020 US Election campaign for political marketing.

Thanks Alice - and best wishes for the trials in Japan in May.

I’m also using it to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Centres to thank them for the help they’ve given my wife and family during her bowel cancer journey.
