Your choice: Drugs cheat or clean athlete

Published on: 4th February, 2021

Ali Jawad was 15 when he was asked if he'd become a drugs cheat or be a clean athlete. The question came from his coach, who was making a very powerful point. And since then the Paralympic Powerlifter has championed clean sport.

Ali's finally got some competition. Lockdown and his recovery from Crohn's Disease has left him with so few opportunities over the last 5 years. But he's preparing for a qualification tournament next month.

These podcasts are released Monday to Friday. If you'd like to leave me a small 'tip' as an appreciation - I'm raising money for Maggie's Cancer Centres.

About the Podcast

Destination Tokyo
Olympic and Paralympic stories in the run up to the Tokyo Games.
I’ve covered 5 Olympic and 5 Paralympic Games at home and abroad. Tokyo 2020 was to have been numbers 6. So how are the athletes preparing during Covid times. And what are they learning in the run up to the Games. The Podcast lasts around 10 mins and comes out daily, Monday to Friday. I’m also using it to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Centres to thank them for the help they’ve given my wife and family during her bowel cancer journey.
