Deciding where to race... A conundrum for Olympian Dai Greene

Published on: 28th March, 2021

Former world champion high hurdler Dai Greene talks us through the difference of being a funded and non-funded athlete. Injuries in the last few years have meant Dai has to pay most of his own way. So when it comes to massages, physio etc he has to be more self-sufficient.

The other issue at the moment is whether to race in Europe or not. Many athletes who went to the European Indoor Championships had to self-isolate on return after someone on the flight caught Covid-19. As Tokyo approaches no athlete can afford repeated self-isolations.

And it's tradition we talk pizza too. Dai's in charge of cooking the pizzas at his partner's business. This month he discloses a delicious sweet pizza! Here are the details

I’ve covered 5 Olympic and 5 Paralympic Games at home and abroad. Tokyo 2020 was to have been numbers 6. So how are the athletes preparing during Covid times. And what are they learning in the run up to the Games. The Podcast lasts around 10 mins and comes out daily, Monday to Friday. I’m also using it to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Centres to thank them for the help they’ve given my wife and family during her bowel cancer journey.
